Mission Statement and Purpose

The primary mission of the American Legion Post 273 Honor Guard is to provide Military Funeral Ceremonies for Veterans and Retirees who have served honorably in the United States Military.

A military funeral is a burial rite given to all members who served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. Upon the family’s request, all eligible Veterans can be honored with a Rifle salute, playing of Taps and a flag folding detail, and a Chaplain offering words of condolences.

All services are conducted with honor, dignity, and respect while maintaining a commitment to the history and traditions of our United States Military.

The mission of the Color Guard is to provide ceremonial Colors for community events and ceremonies.

Our membership is composed of volunteers who donate their time and service solely as a patriotic duty to honor our country and our Veterans.
